It’s Rabbi Steven Fisdel’s more realistic narrative of the Neo-Babylonian Empire crash: https://www.academia.edu/38048951/The_Fall_of_Babylon_by_Rabbi_Steven_Fisdel.docx I worked on the summary and Rabbi Fisdel took the baton, taking the topic head on by impressively digging into a more logical conclusion citing Nabonidus, not Belshazzar, as the cause of Cyrus’s invasion. The famous writing on the wall was directed at Nabonidus. Historians, in their excitement of preferring unsolved, mysterious drama and producing a theory that didn’t make sense, have ignored critical evidence: #1 reading Cyrus’ and Nabonidus’ Cylinders as a combined story, #2 the political climate and #3 isolating Nabonidus as the mad king but disregarding his insanity that generated destruction multiple times. Rabbi Fisdel’s narrative is a theory, the same as the current version being a theory. But if the current version doesn’t make sense and Rabbi Fisdel’s does, then this realistic narrative deserves as much attention and debate.
